INDIA · ZANSKAR VALLEY · 2026
8 Nights – 9 Days · Manali to Manali · Up to 5,060m · Max 16 riders
Travelling to places still cradled in nature’s untouched embrace is what keeps the true adventurer’s heart beating. And Zanskar — quiet, hidden, and impossibly majestic — is one such treasure.
Sharing its rugged borders with Ladakh and Himachal, this high-altitude kingdom rests at over 13,000 feet in the northern Himalayas, cut away from the rest of the world by sheer geography and ancient mountain walls. Yet, in that isolation lies its magic.
If you’re seeking a real disconnect — not the kind you talk about, but the kind you feel in your bones — this is where your soul will find room to breathe.
The roads here dance alongside wild rivers, climb over untouched mountain passes, thread through valleys where the silence speaks louder than words, and wind into villages smaller than any you’ve known. Zanskar welcomes you not with grandeur, but with open arms and landscapes so unreal they feel painted by the gods.
At TripWeiser, we’ve poured our love, experience, and understanding of the mountains into crafting this journey — a ride that blends thrill with tranquillity, challenge with wonder, and adventure with meaning. Pack your courage, curiosity, and a heart ready for magic.
WHAT YOU WILL SEE
From cedar forests and glacial rivers to timeless monasteries, forgotten valleys, and legendary mountain passes, The Himalayan Odyssey unveils the Himalayas in their many extraordinary forms.
The familiar slowly fades behind as the road climbs beyond Manali into the lush valleys of Lahaul, where alpine rivers, towering peaks and Himalayan villages set the tone for the expedition ahead.
The road now ventures into the high Himalayas, crossing iconic mountain passes, glacial lakes and vast plateaus where every kilometre feels earned.
Ancient monasteries, royal heritage and the timeless Indus Valley reveal a civilisation that has flourished beneath the Himalayas for centuries.
Leaving the familiar highways behind, the expedition enters the hidden valleys of Zanskar, where remote villages, dramatic canyons and centuries-old monasteries remain untouched by time.
Deep within the valley lie some of the Himalayas’ most extraordinary spiritual treasures, where monasteries continue traditions preserved for generations.
Every expedition eventually turns homeward, but the mountains are no longer the same. The return journey retraces legendary roads with a new perspective, carrying memories forged across some of the most remote landscapes in the Himalayas.
DAY BY DAY
Each day is paced for the rider, not the tourist. We ride when the light is right and stop when the road demands it.
Your journey begins at Majnu ka Tila in Delhi, where our coordinator greets you with warmth and familiarity. As you share coffee and first conversations with fellow travellers, the city hums slowly and dissolves into the background. By evening, you board the cosy sleeper bus to Manali. Through your window, Delhi’s lights fade into quiet highways, and the silhouettes of distant foothills signal the mountains waiting for you.
Tonight, the excitement rests quietly beside you as the Himalayas draw closer.
◆ Tomorrow, the real journey begins.
Morning arrives in Manali with crisp mountain air and tall deodar trees swaying gently in the breeze.
Post breakfast, the day begins with a comprehensive briefing:
These are the people who will soon feel like family.
You’ll then be introduced to your machine — the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 — and take time to get comfortable with it.
The ride begins with the iconic Atal Tunnel, and as you emerge on the Lahaul side, the world suddenly changes. Dense forests give way to vast, barren mountains with streaks of glacier melt shining in the sun. Waterfalls tumble down rock faces, and tiny villages cling to the slopes as if carved into the mountains themselves. By the time you reach Jispa, the sky has turned golden, the Bhaga River runs quietly beside you, and the Himalayas stand tall and comforting.

◆ Evening by the riverside, surrounded by silence and stars.
This is a day made for riders. The road stretches wide and free as we glide through Darcha and into the ascending terrain of the high passes.
Baralacha La greets you with icy winds and endless snow banks even in summer. Sarchu opens into dramatic, rugged cliffs rising like ancient fortresses. Pang’s unique rock formations resemble giant cathedrals sculpted by nature itself.
As we enter the More Plains, the world becomes an infinite canvas — straight highways running through deserts of gold, framed by mountains dipped in shades of purple, brown, and rust. With every turn, the sky feels bigger.
By evening, Leh welcomes you with its fluttering prayer flags, crisp air, and the silent strength of the Stok Kangri range watching over the town.
◆ From here onward, crowds fade… and the real Himalayas begin.
A relaxed morning lets you soak in Leh’s charm — narrow lanes lined with cafés, monasteries perched on hills, and markets alive with color.
The sightseeing ride takes you through Sham Valley, where the Indus River flows softly beside the road. You see the famous Magnetic Hill stretch, the majestic confluence where the emerald Indus meets the deep blue Zanskar, and ancient monasteries standing tall against the sky.
The landscapes shift by the hour — from smooth riverbeds to rugged cliffs painted in stunning shades of gold. By the time we reach Lamayuru, known for its “Moonland” terrain, you’ll feel as if you’ve ridden into another universe.
Dinner and silence in Wanla complete a soul-filling day.
◆ The Himalayas feel very different here—raw, vast, and powerful.
This is where adventure becomes raw and real. The road narrows, the mountains tower higher, and every view feels untouched.
The ascent to SirSir La winds through steep switchbacks and wide valley floors colored by wildflowers. Singe La — the Lion Pass — opens into a breathtaking panorama of jagged Zanskar ranges stretching endlessly into the horizon.
You ride past cliffs that drop into roaring rivers, through remote hamlets where kids wave with pure joy, and finally reach the hidden village of Lingshed, where life feels unchanged for centuries.
As we push further into Zanskar, the valleys widen again and sunlight dances across whitewashed stupas and multi-colored prayer flags. Padum sits quietly in the center of this mystical world, surrounded by mighty mountains on all sides.
◆ This is your base for deeper exploration.
Padum is a place where time seems to stand still. You start your day hearing the soft chanting of monks and the rustle of cold desert wind. A gentle walk takes you to Sheela Waterfall, whose clear waters cascade into sunlit pools.
Explore ancient monasteries painted in deep reds and yellows, meet local families with smiles shaped by mountain life, or simply sit by the fields watching the clouds drift slowly across the giant peaks.
The landscape around Padum is surreal — wide brown plains surrounded by snow-covered giants. By night, the sky becomes a blanket of stars stretching from ridge to ridge.
◆ It’s about:
Evening back in Padum:
Today’s ride to Purne is filled with endless off-road joy — sandy trails, narrow ledges, hanging bridges, and the sparkling Tsarap River flowing alongside you.
Those trekking to Phugtal witness one of the Himalayas’ greatest wonders — a monastery carved into a cliffside, hidden inside a natural cave glowing with golden light.
The route to Gonbo Ranjan takes you across vast empty plains where the only sound is the wind brushing past your helmet. As the sacred monolith appears in the distance, you feel small and humbled before its ancient presence.
Camping here is nothing short of magical — the silence is complete, the stars are countless, and the Milky Way glows like a river in the sky.
Stay:
◆ This is where the expedition feels truly remote—and unforgettable.
The sunrise at Gonbo Ranjan lights the mountains in shades of gold and rose. After breakfast, we retrace our journey toward Shinku La — a pass that thrills with its steep climbs, flowing streams, and snow walls.
Descending into Lahaul, the greenery slowly returns and rivers sparkle brighter. After a hearty lunch in Jispa or Keylong, the final ride toward Manali feels warm, familiar, and nostalgic.
By evening, the lively cafés, cheerful streets, and warm hospitality of Manali welcome you back. Tonight, stories flow easily — about passes conquered, fears overcome, and friendships forged on one of India’s most extraordinary routes.
We then pass through the engineering marvel, the Atal Tunnel:
Arrival in Manali:
By evening, you’re back in comfort.
Tonight:
◆ From extreme terrain to complete comfort—this contrast defines the experience.
Wake up with a sense of accomplishment.
The journey concludes, but the memories stay — the high passes, the sacred mountains, the rugged trails, the quiet monasteries, and the stars that hung low enough to feel close.
As you make your way home, you carry a little bit of the Himalayas in your heart — a reminder that the mountains remain, waiting gently for your return.
And when they call again, TripWeiser will be here to take you back.
◆ The mountains don’t leave you—they stay.
