Meghalaya in Sanskrit means “The Abode of Clouds”.

Filled with mountainous terrains, huge stretches of valleys, and grand highland plateaus; Meghalaya, of all the Seven Sisters, is quite rich geologically.

If there’s one word for Meghalaya, it is exotic. It is one of the gems of Northeast India. Don’t get us wrong if we say it is one of the most beautiful seven sisters! That is because Meghalaya is a potpourri of vivid landscapes. It is indeed God’s own garden with lush green mountains, mysterious caves, sparkling rivers, and some majestic waterfalls. Being the recipient of maximum rainfall, Meghalaya has every hue of green in its forests. It surely is a photographer’s paradise.

The richness of Culture Home to the Khasi and Garo culture, Meghalaya boasts of its unique cuisines, vibrant clothing, and melodious folk music. Though it has a moderate climate round the year, the best time to visit Meghalaya is during autumn. It is then that the famous Wangala drum festival showcases the best of its culture. Its capital Shillong, popularly known as ‘The Rock Capital of India’, has a peppy evening vibe. With scrumptious food and jamming sessions, the cafes at Shillong are so charming they would surely leave you wanting more. Apart from cafes, there are a lot of places to visit in Shillong. The Umiam Lake, Elephant Falls, and evergreen forests are a few major attractions. There is no doubt as to why the British named Shillong the Scotland of the East.

Most Scenic Villages of Asia Speaking of other places, the true essence of Meghalaya tourism lies in its villages. Here cleanliness is a culture that is practiced so dedicatedly, that the Village Mawlynnong is titled as the cleanest village of Asia! The Living Roots bridges at Nongriat Village are so mystical they seem to be straight out of some Peter Pan movie! Also, if you have seen those pictures of a slender boat over crystal clear waters then you already know what boating in Umngot River at Dawki Village looks like. But hey, only if looking at a picture was enough, we all would have traveled the world, right? Since that is far from being possible, you need to pack your bags and get ready to unravel the hidden beauty of NorthEast India with Tripweiser’s Meghalaya tour package.

Day 1The Whatever Day (Arrival at Guwahati)

Hi,  I am a Saturday and your road trip to Meghalaya starts tomorrow, and since it’s a free day there are a couple of things that can be done today. Like,

  •  You can fly to Guwahati a day early (today) and settle down for a bit; away from the hustle and bustle of the big cities.
  • Or you can get off your regular routine and pack your bags for your early morning flight tomorrow.

Do whatever you want today in order to make tomorrow in a “READY SET GO” mode for your trip to Meghalaya.

If you choose to fly to Guwahati today, you will be welcomed by the crew, checked in to a hotel and the evening will be open for a city stroll. In case you want to visit some places in and around the city please talk to our experts and they will make the necessary arrangements.

Far far away, behind the word mountains, far from the countries Vokalia and Consonantia, there live the blind texts. Separated they live in Bookmarksgrove right at the coast of the Semantics, a large language ocean. A small river named Duden flows by their place and supplies it with the necessary regelialia.

It is a paradisematic country, in which roasted parts of sentences fly into your mouth. Even the all-powerful Pointing has no control about the blind texts it is an almost unorthographic life One day however.
